I founded Sensory SMART OT in 2010.

Originally, graduated from the University of Cape Town (South Africa) in 1991 and have worked in Paediatrics ever since. I commenced work as an OT in a hospital for 2 years followed by work in special schools and private practice. I have owner managed a private practice since 1996.

I have had the privilege of Lecturing Paediatric OT sessions as a guest lecturer for CSU Port Macquarie, from 2018 - 2020. I have offered student training in my practices since 1996.

My view on working with clients is that everyone has strengths. I attempt to harness those strengths in order to assist my clients to overcome the difficulties they face. Sensory SMART OT has become a beacon of hope in the community for families with children who have Autism and other types of disability. I am passionate about being an OT and will promote the profession at every opportunity.

I have previously held positions of leadership on the Western Cape Private Practitioners Group as well as the South African Institute of Sensory Integration. I coordinated an International Conference in Cape Town for 300 delegates in 2003 on behalf of the South African Institute of Sensory Integration Therapists.

Fiona Smith

OT

I am an Occupational Therapist with over twenty years of experience working in a range of clinical settings and with people of all ages and disabilities. I joined the Sensory SMART OT team in 2014 and have enjoyed the collaborative and professional team environment.

As a Paediatric OT I find it rewarding to work with children and their families towards their goals. I enjoy the interaction with not only the children but their families as well. Working closely with schools and other practitioners allows me to develop a deep and holistic view of the needs of the children. Being a parent to two children means I bring life experience of the joys and challenges of raising children which enriches my professional knowledge and skills. As a professional I have developed strong networks with other health care workers to share resources and ideas.

I look forward to continuing to work with children and families in the Hastings area and improving the outcomes for my clients.

Caroline Dennis

Admin/ Reception

I joined the Sensory Smart OT team in June 2015 and I love my role as the Admin Assistant/ Receptionist. I feel that this role combines my love of people, my interpersonal skills, and my passion to see people equipped to live their best life. I really enjoy the interaction with the great staff and also with all the clients. I have worked in a range of roles; starting my Admin career in 1988 working in an Architect Firm in London, then as Receptionist at a global computer firm in North Sydney and then I moved to an Electronics company and worked as Private Secretary to the Managing Director. I then shifted my career path to become a Mum. I am married to Dave, and we have 4 adult children, a very cute grandson, and I also Pastor a local church here in Port Macquarie along with my husband.
